IN THIS LESSON

GOD ISN’T WAITING TO PUNISH YOU; HE’S READY TO RUN TO YOU.

In the story of the Prodigal Son, we see ourselves more than we realize. The son leaves home in search of freedom, but what he finds is emptiness, regret, and guilt. When everything falls apart, he prepares to return home, not expecting love, but punishment. Like many of us, he assumes forgiveness must be earned through damage control.

But Jesus flips the script. Before the son can explain himself, the father runs to him, full of compassion, love, and forgiveness. This is the heart of God. We often believe God is waiting to punish us, but Scripture shows He is watching, waiting, and ready to run toward us when we turn back.

Our guilt tells us we are no longer worthy to be called God’s children. Grace reminds us we never stopped being His.

Bottom Line: God isn’t waiting to punish you; He’s ready to run to you.

Challenge: Stop delaying your return. This week, take one honest step toward God and come home just as you are.
