Overview of the lesson
Scripture: 1 Kings 19:11–13 + John 10:27 + Hebrews 4:12–13
This week, we learned how to respond when God seems silent. In 1 Kings 19, Elijah was afraid, discouraged, and struggling to hear God.
Elijah expected God to speak through the windstorm, earthquake, or fire, but God spoke through a gentle whisper. God was still near and still speaking, just not in the way Elijah expected.
This story reminds us that God’s silence does not mean God’s absence. God may speak differently than we expect through Scripture, prayer, worship, His Spirit, trusted leaders, or quiet conviction.
When life becomes loud and distracting, we must slow down, quiet our hearts, and keep listening. God’s Word is living and active, and sometimes we ask God to speak while ignoring what He has already said.
God is still near, even when we cannot feel Him. Keep praying, open your Bible, remove distractions, and trust that He is still speaking.
Bottom Line: God is still speaking, even when He seems silent.
